About
Built for the day you have no time to shop around
Nobody looks for a plumber on a good day. You look when a pipe has burst, when the furnace has stopped in February, or when water is coming through a ceiling. That is the worst possible moment to be opening twenty tabs, comparing half-finished websites and wondering which numbers still connect to a working business.
Water & Heat exists to shorten that. We list plumbing and heating contractors across Calgary in one place, with the things you actually need in order to decide: what they do, where they work, how people rate them, whether they answer at three in the morning, and a phone number that works. One page instead of twenty.
Most residential contractors here hold both plumbing and gas tickets, because a Calgary winter does not respect the boundary between the two. So the directory is organised the way the problem arrives — water or heat — rather than the way trades describe themselves.
How the listings work
Contractors do not pay to be listed, and we do not remove a listing because a business dislikes its reviews. The directory aims to be complete rather than curated: a directory that only carries the firms who signed up is an advert, not a directory.
Business names, addresses, phone numbers and ratings come from Google. Company history, licence details and founding years are shown only where we actually have them — never guessed, because a guessed licence number is worse than no licence number.
What we are not
A listing is not an endorsement. Being in this directory means a business appears to operate in Calgary in this trade. It is not a recommendation, and it is not a warranty of anyone’s work.
We do not verify that reviewers were customers. Ratings shown from Google are supplied by Google and reflect reviews left there. Community reviews are written by visitors to this site and moderated for abuse, not for truthfulness. Read them as opinions, because that is what they are.
Check the licence yourself before work starts. Where a listing shows a verified licence, someone has checked it — but licences lapse, and the check has a date on it. For anything involving gas, ask to see the ticket.
How this is paid for
When you press Call or send an emergency request, we record that a contractor was contacted through this site, and contractors can pay a small monthly fee for the enquiries they receive. That is the whole business model. It does not buy a better position in the listings, and paid placement, where it ever appears, is labelled Sponsored so you can see it.
Something wrong with a listing?
If your business is listed and the details are wrong, or you would rather not be listed at all, email support@kitamatrix.com and we will fix or remove it. The same goes for anyone who spots a number that no longer works. Say which listing you mean and what is wrong with it; we do not need proof of ownership to correct a phone number or to take a listing down.
Contractors who want to receive the enquiries their listing generates, or to ask about sponsored placement, can write to the same address.
