One slow fixture is a local blockage. All of them slow at once, or the basement floor drain backing up when you flush upstairs or run the washing machine, points at the line leaving the house. That is a different job, and usually a different contractor from the one who snakes a sink.
It usually means the line copes with normal flow and not with volume — roots, a sag holding water, or a partially collapsed section. Mention the rain pattern when you call, because it narrows the diagnosis before anyone arrives.
Lining or bursting the existing pipe from access points at each end, instead of excavating the whole run. It saves the lawn, the driveway and a great deal of restoration. It is not always suitable — a fully collapsed or badly misaligned line may need digging — and only a camera inspection settles which.
The City maintains the main in the street. The service line connecting your house to it is generally the property owner’s responsibility, which surprises people when the fault turns out to be under the front lawn or the road. Confirm with the City for your address before authorising any excavation.
